Read the guideA long day down the 401 and Autoroute 20, planned in GYST. These numbers come from a real trip plan in the app.

| Distance | 813 km |
|---|---|
| Drive time without charging | About 8.5 hours of driving (8 hr 32 min in the example plan) |
| Main highways | Highway 401 in Ontario, Autoroute 20 in Québec |
| Charging stops for most EVs | 3 stops totalling about 50 minutes in the example plan |
For a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 leaving Toronto at 80%, GYST planned three fast-charging stops: Petro-Canada in Cobourg (arrive 52%, leave 88%, 16 minutes), Ivy’s ONroute Morrisburg (arrive 20%, leave 76%, 21 minutes) and Petro-Canada in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot on Autoroute 20 (13 minutes).
The car reaches Québec City with about 20% left. GYST estimated $56.70 for the whole trip, with each charging stop between about $12 and $18.
This plan came from GYST’s Trip Concierge (Pro): describe the trip, even with a stop on the way like Kingston, and GYST works out the route, charging and cost.
GYST doesn’t replace your maps app. When it’s time to drive, send each leg to Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or your Tesla.
At over 800 km, this is a full day. The example plan included a 30-minute buffer for unexpected traffic, which helps around Montréal.
Highway speeds use more energy. GYST’s highway speed adjustment adds about 7% to route energy so the arrival battery isn’t optimistic.
In winter, expect an extra stop or longer charges, and recalculate before you leave.
In our example plan, a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 leaving at 80% needed three stops totalling about 50 minutes. Cars with shorter range or winter weather may need more.
Yes. The example plan had about 8.5 hours of driving plus 50 minutes of charging. If you’d rather split it, set your daily driving time in GYST and it plans the trip over two days.
Distances and times are approximate and change with traffic, weather, speed and your vehicle. Always check your plan and charger status before you leave.
