How GYST works

GYST is an iPhone app for EV owners that plans the whole road trip. It builds a recommended route with compatible charging stops, shows driving time, charging time, arrival battery and estimated cost before you leave, and finds food, coffee and washroom stops ahead on the route. GYST Pro adds the Trip Concierge, an AI trip planner you can talk to in plain language.

Enter your destination, or with GYST Pro describe the trip to the Trip Concierge and review its draft. GYST then calculates a recommended route with compatible charging stops. Review the charging time and estimated cost, follow trip progress in GYST, and launch each leg in your preferred navigation app.

During an active trip, GYST’s Live Activity can appear in CarPlay. GYST sends each route leg to your preferred navigation app, which can show the route in CarPlay. GYST does not currently have its own CarPlay launcher.

GYST combines charger information from multiple providers and shows live availability where supported. Charger status can change, so listings and route plans are estimates and should be checked before relying on them.

GYST helps you plan before getting into the car, understand charging time and estimated cost, find useful stops, share and save trips, and keep trip history and progress together. When it is time to drive, GYST hands navigation to your preferred app.

No. GYST builds the plan (route, charging stops, estimated cost and useful stops), then sends each leg to Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or your Tesla for turn-by-turn directions.

Yes. In “Who’s traveling?”, choose kids (by age range), dogs, cats or accessibility. GYST favours charging stops with suitable things nearby, such as playgrounds, dog parks or stations listed as accessible, where that information is available. It’s free.

North America remains GYST’s primary market, but drivers can choose European vehicle versions and compatible European connector types. A traveler can also select a rental vehicle from either market. Charger coverage and live data vary by country and provider.

For a sufficiently long route, GYST can split the drive into daily legs, use planned charging stops as overnight anchors where possible, remember the remaining legs, and assume a configurable departure charge for the next day. GYST does not choose or book lodging, and every day’s route and charging plan should be reviewed before driving.

GYST currently supports iPhone running iOS 18 or later. An Android version is in development; see the next question.

GYST uses trusted mapping and charger-data providers to build your route. GYST uses your location to plan routes and find relevant chargers. You can share a static snapshot of a planned trip or send a current ETA summary through the iOS share sheet. Neither provides live location tracking. Trips you choose to save sync to our backend and are protected by per-user access controls.
