How GYST works

Everything you're likely to want to know about the GYST app, the beta, and planning an EV road trip with it.

Frequently asked questions

What is GYST?

GYST is an iPhone app for EV owners that plans trips around your life. It builds a recommended route with compatible charging stops, considers travel time and estimated charging cost, estimates charging spend up front, and includes a Trip Concierge you can plan with in plain language.

How do I plan an EV road trip with GYST?

Enter your destination or describe the trip to the Trip Concierge. If you use the Concierge, review the trip draft, then GYST calculates a recommended route with compatible charging stops. Review the estimated charging cost, follow trip progress in GYST, and launch each leg in your preferred navigation app.

Does GYST support European EVs?

North America remains GYST’s primary beta market, but drivers can choose European vehicle versions and compatible European connector types. A traveler can also select a rental vehicle from either market. Charger coverage and live data vary by country and provider.

How does GYST handle multi-day trips?

For a sufficiently long route, GYST can split the drive into daily legs, use planned charging stops as overnight anchors where possible, remember the remaining legs, and assume a configurable departure charge for the next day. GYST does not choose or book lodging, and every day’s route and charging plan should be reviewed before driving.

How does the beta work?

Join the email waitlist and we’ll invite testers in batches via TestFlight. The GYST beta is currently free to use. Some features or limits may change before public launch.

What does the beta cost?

Nothing. GYST is free during the beta.

What devices does GYST support?

iPhone running iOS 18 or later. No iPad or Android version yet.

What happens to my location data?

GYST uses trusted mapping and charger-data providers to build your route. GYST uses your location to plan routes and find relevant chargers. You can share a static snapshot of a planned trip or send a current ETA summary through the iOS share sheet. Neither provides live location tracking. Trips you choose to save sync to our backend and are protected by per-user access controls.

What happens to my email if I join the waitlist?

Your email address is stored in GYST’s hosted backend for beta invitations and GYST updates. The waitlist endpoint also keeps a rate-limit record derived from a hash of the request IP address.

How can I access or correct my personal information?

Email [email protected]. You can request access to personal information GYST holds about you, ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information, or make another privacy request that applies to you.
